Baby Formula Feed

By Pregnancy and Parent at 2010-03-19 04:26:32

Today, breastfeeding is being encouraged over baby formula feeding because of the many advantages for both mother and child. For the child, it gets all the nutrients it needs from breast milk, plus the mother's anti bodies, which will help the child develop resistance to certain viral and bacterial infections.

Breastfeeding also helps in developing physical and emotional bond between mother and child, since there is constant physical contact, and the baby feels secure in its mother's arms. For the mother, breastfeeding is more convenient and is more practical because there is no need for milk bottles, no need to wash and sterilize bottles, and there is no need to get up at the middle of the night to prepare a bottle of milk. Breastfeeding also does not cause too much burping on infants.

Many women make the decision not to breastfeed without knowing the real cost of baby formula. They may add up the price of baby formula, feeding bottles, and artificial nipples. They might even remember to factor in the cost of sterilizing bottles and nipples. But few women who decide not to breastfeed consider the cost of baby formula on their baby's health and their own health.

Women who use baby formula breastfeed very little or not at all. The lack of breastfeeding, which is a natural physiological part of the pregnancy and childbirth process, results in increased health risks for women. Women who do not breastfeed, or breastfeed for shorter duration, have:

Breastfeeding is a great way to fight infections. Antibodies that are passed from you to your baby can help lower the occurrence of many conditions such as ear infections, diarrhea, respiratory infection and meningitis.

Breastfeeding is especially beneficial for premature babies and may also protect children against allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Breast milk is also known as the "perfect formula" for a baby's digestive system. Some of the ingredients include lactose, protein (whey and casein), and fat. All of which are easily digested through a newborn baby's system, and it also naturally contains all the vitamins and minerals that a newborn requires.

New parents are always worried about their children and what they need to do to meet their baby's needs. After being totally joyous they often become very concerned about their baby's nutrition and wonder whether they are feeding their little one just the right way. The following tips will help determine whether you are doing everything you can to feed your baby correctly, and whether its right or not to give your baby low iron baby formula, or high iron baby formula.

Infant formulas are a time-tested, perfectly acceptable alternative to breastfeeding. Even though formula-fed babies do not receive infection-fighting antibodies from the breast milk, they still will have received a four- to six-month supply of these antibodies through the maternal bloodstream prior to delivery. Most women know or should know that their breasts are for the purpose of breastfeeding a newborn child or infant. This is the primary function of the breasts.
